Jake Caught a Fish

Mazda_Towin_Old_Town_Canoe

I used to fish nearly every day. I would mostly fly fish, but sometimes threw conventional tackle, and sometimes even dunked live bait. I've landed probably 50 or more species of fish, from rivers, lakes, canals and oceans across America.

Old age and a couple car accidents now prevent me from fishing nearly as often as I used to, so I find myself browsing the thousands of fish photos in the library on my phone. I realized that to most folks, many of my photos appear to be identical- a picture of me and a fish- but to me they represent very specific memories. I can look at ten different photos of myself holding say, a peacock bass, and without any background in the photo, can say exactly where that fish was caught, what time of day or year it was, and what tackle I was using.

So with all the extra time on my hands, I thought I'd write those stories down. I hope you enjoy reading these stories, and welcome any feedback. May your days be free of wind and rain, your reels free of tangles, and your boat docks uncrowded. -Jake
